New listings show modest rise from 2021

It’s still a small sample size but June listings were up in B.C., according to the Canadian Real Estate Association. A shortage of listings, more than anything, is considered to be the biggest factor in the current real estate climate.
The June-to-June comparison from 2021 to 2022 showed an increase of 5.5 per cent in new listings. New listings in June 2022 were 16,400.
The statistical comparison also revealed that the average price of home across the province went up by just 4.1 per cent during the same period. Average home price this June was $927,216.
And here are the benchmark prices for six B.C. markets:
         Greater Vancouver — $1,235,900
         Fraser Valley — $1,128,400
         Victoria — $985,500
         Chilliwack — $824,300
         Vancouver Island — $769,800
         Interior — $716,600
The Benchmark Price is the estimated sale price of a typical property within each market.
