An article that appeared online this month dealt with decorating a living room, what works and what doesn’t. It made for interesting reading, with at least a couple of things that might prompt anybody to take a look at the way it is at home.
Do you always put your large furniture against a living-room wall?
If so, one of the “mistakes” (these things are always so subjective) you could be making is restricting space that you want to feel more open. Moving the furniture away from the walls provides more furniture layout options and gives you a better chance of making it more inviting.
Do you ever change the artwork in your living room?
One expert believes it’s a good idea to change it monthly! The theory is if it remains same-old, same-old that you become immune to the emotion which prompted you to put it there in the first place. And if you’re really ambitious, you can make the walls look different by changing your artwork’s mats and frames.
Of course, it’s all in the eye of the beholder, isn’t it? However, those are a couple of design thoughts that might make readers and writers alike think about how their own living rooms look.
