Getting that house ready for listing

Summer is often for one of two things: vacation or fixing up the house and yard. Since vacations can be somewhat abbreviated this year…you know what that leaves.
For the homeowner getting a home ready to list on MLS, there may not be a choice.
Fix-up time it is.
That sometimes raises major questions concerning how to give the house more “curb appeal” and, therefore, make it more saleable:
• Does the roof really need to be replaced, and can the cost of doing it be recovered in the asking price?
• Is the sundeck or patio in need of power washing, or more?
• What about painting the outside to give it a ‘new’ look?
• How much should be invested in landscaping to make the yard look nicer?
• And what about the driveway?
What every homeowner has to do when putting the family home on the market is step back and take a detached, critical look at the property to determine what (or how much) is needed to make it look as appealing to others as it is to the owner.
