Friends of ours installed more than 1,000 square feet of laminate floor in their home about 15 years ago. This was a questionable venture for two reasons. One, laminate floor was a relatively unknown product, in terms of longevity. Two, our friends had never installed anything more challenging than a light bulb — their assessment, not ours.
Times have changed.
While our friends claim to be just as unimpressive in the DIY department as they were then, laminate flooring has become more impressive.
It’s easier to install.
It’s more durable.
It now resists stains and scratches.
It's easy to clean.
As if all that’s not good enough, it’s also less expensive and lasts longer than carpet.
So, the point is: If you’re thinking of making your house more attractive to sell, swapping old carpet for new laminate is one of the improvements you can make.
How did our friends do, all those years ago?
The finished laminate floor was “almost” flawless.
Today, they’d ace it.
