It’s widely believed that planning a real estate transaction around Christmas is unwise.
Or is it?
Buying a house is often an emotional experience. A house warmed by a burning fireplace and dressed up with a Christmas tree and decorations can have a nice feel to it for both buyers and sellers. Despite wintry weather, the house looks appealing and shows well.
There are practical reasons, too.
Because everybody’s so busy this month, and because the weather tends to be a little on the cool and/or wet side, buyers are likely to be serious. No looky-loos or tire-kickers. They also have fewer homes to see, because the tendency is a reduced inventory over the holidays.
Consequently, buyers may feel more urgency in making that offer and sellers may be quicker to accept.
After all, sellers who have their home on the market over the holidays are also serious, because who would invite people through their home during Christmas holidays if they weren’t serious about selling?
So when you put serious buyers in the same room as serious sellers, the result is often serious negotiations.
Realtors like Jennifer (604-726-8768) and Dale (604-922-3353) are serious, too.
Everything, including real estate transactions, doesn’t stop because of Christmas.
It just feels that way.
