Here’s a question that often makes the rounds:
“Do I have to put a sign up to sell my house?”
The answer is no.
However, before you discard the idea (and the sign), make sure you think it through.
In this era, advertising that a house is for sale has many avenues.
There is Multiple Listing Service, of course. When you list your house with Nexus Realty, the service means your house will be on our website in at least one place, and frequently more. It will be on social media outlets, but people aren’t always going to find it on the computer, and social media can’t give you that “eyeball” exposure.
Besides, when you’re trying to sell a house, you want it to be as many places as possible. That includes the front lawn.
There are sometimes unexpected benefits to having a “for sale” sign.
Lots of buyers drive through an area and, if they like feel of the neighbourhood, they’ll be looking to see what’s on the market.
Once your neighbours know, they may bring your listing to the attention of friends or family they’d like to have as new neighbours.
A sign plants the idea in minds of people who may not be actively looking and who may see it as a good investment.
The more people who know that you’re selling, the better the chances are that you’ll sell it quickly.
And then…the sign will soon be gone.
